The Hidden Cost of Being Scattered
Where your attention goes, your energy follows.
If I asked how you're doing, there's a good chance your answer would include one word.
"Busy."
It's become almost a badge of honor.
• Full calendars.
• Back-to-back meetings.
• Notifications that never seem to stop.
• Family responsibilities.
• Volunteer commitments.
• Projects.
• Deadlines.
None of these things are inherently bad. In fact, many of them represent opportunities we're grateful to have.
The challenge isn't that we're busy. The challenge is that we're scattered.
And scattered has a cost.
When our attention is constantly divided, our best thinking gets diluted. We begin reacting instead of creating. We move from one priority to the next without ever feeling fully present in any of them.
I've experienced this myself.
There are seasons when I catch myself checking boxes instead of making progress. Saying yes to good opportunities while unintentionally creating distance from the things that matter most.
That's usually my signal to pause. Not because I need to do less, but because I need to become more intentional.
One of the questions I've been asking myself lately is simple:
What deserves my full attention right now?
Not everything.
Just the next right thing.
It's amazing what happens when we stop trying to hold ten priorities in our hands and instead choose one meaningful action that moves us forward.
At Be Brave, talk is focused around the 1% Edge. The idea that sustainable momentum isn't built through massive change. It's built through small, intentional decisions made consistently.
• Choosing presence over pressure.
• Clarity over chaos.
• Intention over reaction.
You don't have to solve the rest of the year today.
You simply have to choose where you'll place your attention next.
Because where your attention goes, your energy follows.
And where your energy goes, momentum begins.
